Welcome to Azur: People at the heart of science
At Azur Health Science, people are at the core of everything we do.
Every day, our team helps advance research in rare diseases through scientific expertise and commitment. Through this series, we shine a light on the people behind our mission, whose contributions and experiences help shape Azur from within.
✨ Today, we’re delighted to introduce Catherine, who shares her journey, her motivations, and her experience as part of the Azur Health Science team.
To start, how would you describe your role at Azur, and how do you contribute to the team’s success?
As a project coordinator at Azur, my role is to manage the collaborative workspace for each editorial project to ensure effective communication among team members and to ensure that our deliverables meet quality standards.
I contribute to the team’s success by facilitating collaboration and monitoring project progress. In addition, I implement quality management practices that streamline processes and improve overall results, thereby ensuring that the team achieves its goals efficiently and effectively.
Before joining Azur, what experiences shaped your path towards project management and medical writing
Before joining Azur, I gained valuable experience in the agri-food sector, which significantly shaped my career path toward industrial project management. I worked on various projects involving team coordination, deadline management, and compliance with industry regulations.
This experience taught me the importance of attention to detail and effective communication, two essential elements of project management.
What draws you to the field of rare diseases, and why is this area of research meaningful to you?
What draws me to the field of rare diseases is my personal experience living with a rare condition. This journey has given me a unique perspective on the challenges that individuals with rare diseases face, from the struggle to receive a proper diagnosis to the quest for effective treatments. It has made me acutely aware of the emotional, physical, and financial impacts that these conditions can have on patients and their families.
This area of research is particularly meaningful to me because I understand firsthand the importance of advocacy, awareness, and innovation. I want to contribute to improving the lives of others who are navigating similar experiences and ensure that there is more focus on developing therapies and support systems for rare diseases. By being involved in this field, I hope to help shed light on the importance of understanding and addressing the needs of those affected, ultimately fostering hope and progress for future patients.
Outside of work, what activities or insterests help you unwind and stay balance?
Outside of work, I engage in a wide variety of hands-on activities that help me unwind and maintain balance in my life. I find joy in soap making and candle making, as they allow me to express my creativity while producing something useful. Gardening and landscaping provide a calming connection to nature, giving me a sense of accomplishment as I see my plants thrive.
I also enjoy tackling projects around the house, such as electrical work, plastering, and plumbing. These tasks challenge me intellectually and offer a satisfying sense of achievement once completed. Additionally, I love painting, drawing, and sculpture, which provide an artistic outlet for my emotions.
Cooking is another passion of mine; experimenting with new recipes brings me joy and allows me to share delicious meals with friends and family. Lastly, woodworking is a rewarding way for me to create functional pieces while honing my craftsmanship skills. Engaging in these varied activities not only helps me relax but also fosters a sense of fulfillment and creativity in my life.
As you look to the future, what are you most excited to develop or explore in your role at Azur?
As I look to the future, I am most excited to develop and implement quality systems (QS) at Azur. Enhancing our quality management practices is crucial for ensuring that we consistently meet the highest standards in our projects and deliverables. I see a significant opportunity to integrate more robust quality frameworks that can streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ultimately lead to better outcomes for our clients.
Additionally, I am eager to explore innovative tools and technologies that can aid in quality monitoring and reporting. I am passionate about fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team, where everyone is empowered to contribute to maintaining and elevating our quality standards. Overall, I believe that by focusing on these initiatives, we can enhance Azur’s reputation in the industry and deliver exceptional value to our stakeholders.
